The Challenge
Now isn’t the time to tune out or give in to cynicism. We have hurdles to climb to win the 270 electoral votes it’ll take to keep Trump out of the Oval Office.
It came down to 81,000 votes in four states in 2020. In an election in which a record 158 million people managed to vote, President Biden won by a razor-thin margin. And we anticipate another tight race in 2024, with a similar group of states likely to determine the outcome.
Make no mistake, we’re going to win.

As our team lays the groundwork to defeat Trump again, we’re sparring with a fractured media environment and polarized electorate. But we will beat the odds and reelect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for four more years in office.
Fragmentation
In a bygone era, all Americans tuned in to three TV channels and AM radio. Now, voters have a buffet of cable networks, streaming services, podcasts, social media platforms, and other digital outlets providing news about the election. It’s only natural, in such a crowded information environment, to seek out perspectives that reaffirm beliefs we already hold. Traditional messengers like elected officials have a harder time penetrating these echo chambers.
We’re overcoming fragmentation in three notable ways. First, by assembling a robust, diverse network of surrogates who serve as trusted messengers for our campaign to key voting blocs. Second, by investing an unprecedented amount in constituency-targeted digital advertising and leveraging partnerships with online influencers. And third, by empowering individual supporters to organize their own communities using relational tools such as Reach, a mobile app hosting campaign-approved resources that can easily be shared to your preferred social networks.
Division
President Biden is the president of all Americans, not just those who’ve cast a ballot in his name.
Increasingly, not only do Americans disagree with each other on the solutions to particular policy problems, they also disagree about what issues need solving in the first place. The situation is made worse by rampant disinformation disseminated by politicians like Trump and spread quickly through non-traditional media. Malicious corporate actors disseminate propaganda to reap profits. Political affiliation has become a dividing line in society.
We’re fighting division by promoting detailed examples of how President Biden has worked across the aisle even in this environment to deliver for working families. From expanding access to quality health care and lowering the cost of prescription drugs, to rebuilding our infrastructure and cracking down on junk fees, Joe Biden has a popular bipartisan agenda to run on. He’s signed over 400 bipartisan bills in his first term and will keep up the pace in a second term.
